Governing Structure

Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc. is governed by a twenty (20) to thirty-five (35) member Board of Directors and includes seven ex-officio positions.

The ex-officio positions include:

  • President of Virginia Tech
  • Rector of Virginia Tech’s Board of Visitors
  • President of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association
  • President of the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund
  • Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Virginia Tech
  • Senior Vice President for Advancement for Virginia Tech
  • Chief Facilities Officer / Vice President for Facilities for Virginia Tech.

Board Term Limits

A board member serves a three-year term and may serve two consecutive terms. The seats are self-perpetuating through a nominating process managed by the Development & Nominating Committee.

Board Meetings

The full board meets annually in the fall of every year, while the standing committees — Executive, Investment, Finance & Audit, Real Estate, Compensation, and Development & Nominating — meet throughout the year.
