The Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc. (Foundation) was established in 1948 to receive, manage, and disburse private gifts in support of Virginia Tech programs. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation governed by its board of directors. The Foundation serves the university by generating funding from private sources and aggressively managing its assets to provide funding which supplements state appropriations. The Foundation provides additional operating support to colleges and departments, assists in the funding of major building projects, and provides seed capital for new university initiatives. The Maintenance Technician will report to the Property Manager.
Assists the Senior Facility Maintenance Technician in the performance of tasks in the building trades including carpentry, masonry, painting, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, and general/routine repairs in support of building maintenance; performs daily building inspections of building exteriors and landscaping to assure that buildings are maintained as Class A properties; other duties as assigned. Works additional hours/shifts as required to meet the Foundation’s needs. Must be able to use a respirator and be able to work in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to move and handle equipment and materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
High school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required; requires two+ years in commercial maintenance experience including a general working knowledge of building components and mechanical systems; ability to perform work independently with minimal supervision; basic computer skills. Must be able to use a respirator and be able to work in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to move and handle equipment and materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
