The Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center (VTCRC) is a subsidiary of the Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit corporation that serves the university by generating funding from private sources and aggressively managing its assets. The VTCRC has 38 buildings on 230+ acres of land with 1.2+ million square feet of space. The park is home to over 225 companies currently employing 3,500. The VTCRC has plans to construct 15 additional buildings.
The Business Development Specialist will work with the President on business development initiatives. This position is responsible for extending the VTCRC’s local, regional, and national reach through expert discovery and exploration of new and untapped business opportunities and relationships. This position will develop proposals to assist the organization in obtaining better brand recognition and financial growth.
Detailed-oriented, strong organizational skills, and ability to work in a collaborative team. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate, interact and work with individuals and groups. Proficiency with data analysis and forecasting. Proven ability to plan and manage resources. Successful track record in marketing, sales, and negotiations. Proven ability to deliver professional presentations. Travel required – in-state & out-of-state (15% minimum). Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, or related field and five years of business development experience required.
